Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Boosts Corporate Competitiveness~Daegu TP ‘Technology Transaction Promotion Network Project’… Contributed to 5.1 billion won in sales last year
#Azone Tech Co., Ltd., a software development specialist, recently threw down the gauntlet to pioneer a business area in the healthcare sector, but faced obstacles due to its inability to secure core technologies. However, after receiving the ‘facial image-based heart rate signal measurement technology’ from the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) in May of this year, it is now able to expect the launch of new products within the year.
The ‘Technology Transaction Promotion Network Project’ promoted by Daegu City and Daegu Techno Park (Daegu TP) since 2004 has contributed to strengthening the global competitiveness of local companies. It is a method of transferring technologies held by innovative entities such as research institutes and universities to companies.
Lim Cheong, CEO of Azone Tech, said, “Through ETRI’s technology transfer, we have laid the foundation for advancing into the non-face-to-face medical device and healthcare fields,” and “We expect to generate approximately 2 billion won in new sales by next year through the launch of new products.”
Woorisoft Co., Ltd., a company specializing in cognitive rehabilitation software development, also received technology transfer from the research team at Keimyung University last year and successfully commercialized a ‘smart urine disposal device’ that can safely automatically discharge urine for the disabled, elderly, and bedridden patients. It is currently being supplied to domestic nursing and rehabilitation hospitals and is also preparing to enter the North American market.
Daegu TP announced that through this project, it achieved the following results last year: ▷discovery of 257 demand technologies, ▷92 technology transfer contracts, ▷technology transfer contract amount of 4.3 billion won, ▷sales of 5.1 billion won through technology commercialization support (16 companies), and creation of 32 jobs.
Kim Tae-woon, Director of Daegu City’s Job Investment Bureau, said, “This year, we will focus on advancing technology through non-face-to-face (untact) technology marketing due to COVID-19, as well as the discovery and transfer of large-scale technologies.”
